"Connected cars" take on more apps, electronics

Automotive manufacturers are adding bigger touch-screen displays to the dashboards of their vehicles and providing more software applications, giving drivers an electronics experience closer to what they have with their mobile devices and PCs. An 8-inch display General Motors is releasing this spring, for instance, will be able to handle playing music, providing navigation guidance and going through online applications with touch, steering wheel or voice controls.
