Companies should employ "Gaian" approach to be truly sustainable

Companies should approach their businesses with Gaian principles to effectively practice sustainability, writes Rowan Phillimore, head of communications at The Gaia Foundation. They need to design products with a long life span, practice transparency across supply chains, adopt a "you make it, you take it back" strategy and ensure zero waste in the chain, she writes. "Building on these initiatives and principles, now is the time to innovate: withdraw support from entities that refuse to be responsible; become advocates for our life-sustaining planet; refuse, reduce, re-use, repair, re-gift and recover," Phillimore recommends.
