A startup called Direct Local Food is looking to tap into the passion that Americans have for healthy eating by providing a marketplace to connect farmers with restaurateurs and grocers. The business arrives as the number of farmers markets has increased by more than 300% in the past two decades. Meanwhile, the founding team of Christina McAlpin and Candace Sweigart are finding their way in the world of tech startups, where women are under-represented. "Up-and-coming women technologists are dwindling, and I've had to battle stereotypes," Sweigart said.
