Vodafone reportedly has held talks with Spanish cable operator ONO on a purchase that industry observers said could be worth up to $11 billion and could help the carrier expand beyond its wireless phone service. "We are looking at acquisitions that are sizable and could transform the company," CEO Vittorio Colao said at a media conference Monday. He said the carrier may earmark up to $40 billion for acquisitions in the coming years after reaping a windfall from selling its stake in Verizon Wireless. Vodafone did not comment on the possibility of an ONO acquisition.
