Developer chosen for $400 million retail center on Boston waterfront

The Massachusetts Port Authority selected a team of Chicago-based Urban Retail Properties -- which also developed Copley Place -- and Drew, a local company, to develop a retail center on the South Boston waterfront across from the new convention center. Construction is expected to begin in 2005 and will include space for a supermarket, condos, a shopping center and a 21-floor mid-priced hotel.
