WHO adding new flu strain to vaccine for next season

The new strain, identified in more than 20% of flu viruses isolated from patients recently, was first noted in California last month and is becoming widespread. A WHO official said the strain, A/California/7/2004(H3N2), is expected to be the dominant strain next season. It is to replace A/Fujian as one of three strains of virus in the standard flu shot.
