E-prescriptions gain popularity

In 2007, 35 million prescriptions traveled electronically between health care providers and U.S. pharmacies, according to SureScripts, operator of the Pharmacy Health Information Exchange. Advocates of the system assert that e-prescribing improves efficiency and reduces potential errors, but many doctors don't yet have the software required to send electronic prescriptions.
