Metabolix sets sight on oilseed development for bioplastics

The Cambridge, Mass.-based biotech firm Metabolix announced that it is working with experts at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center in St. Louis to develop an advanced industrial oilseed crop for bioplastics production. "This initiative aims to create another biobased route to economically produce bioplastics and biofuels in high yields directly in nonfood crops," a Metabolix official said.
