Alaska Airlines requests DOT probe of Virgin America

Alaska Airlines has petitioned the Department of Transportation for an inquiry into Virgin America and whether the carrier meets restrictions on foreign ownership and control. "Alaska makes this request to ensure all U.S. carriers are held to the same standard of compliance with U.S. ... laws," said Keith Loveless, general counsel for Alaska Airlines. Officials from Virgin America said the carrier is in full compliance with the laws.
