Executives optimistic about prospects for ethanol sector

Ethanol plant closures and declining fuel consumption amid the economic recession could jeopardize a congressional mandate that calls for a substantial increase in the use of ethanol and other biofuels derived from biomass by 2022. However, Verenium President and CEO Carlos A. Riva and other industry executives say they believe the ethanol sector can surmount the challenges.
