Hospital changes ER admission policies to reduce costs

The University of Chicago Medical Center is changing its emergency room admissions policies to weed out nonemergency patients and reduce costs. The department reorganization will allow physicians and nurses to better evaluate patients before providing care, referring those with more routine medical issues to community health centers or community hospitals.
