Researchers develop more cost-effective hepatitis test

An international team of researchers has developed a blood test for hepatitis C that is more affordable but just as sensitive as standard tests. The new test, similar to conventional tests, works by identifying the genotype sequences of the hepatitis C virus in the blood. However, it reacts when it detects sequences from different conserved regions which have not so far been used for HCV testing.
