Education spending at record-high levels in South Korea

South Korean families spent £22.4 billion on education from October 2008 to September 2009 -- up 3.5% from the previous year, according to the Bank of Korea. In this editorial from the Korea Times, the writer calls for a reduction in spending on private tutoring, and says that officials need to make good on their promises of ending tutoring and improving classroom education.
