Plans for bridge in Washington state have cost taxpayers $221 million

Plans for a floating bridge over Washington state's Highway 520 have generated years of discord and dead ends and cost taxpayers $221 million. The funds have gone to planning, environmental studies, public meetings and engineering to prepare for the $4.65 billion project, which has not been started.
