Target, Fresh Market tap direct-trade coffee

Direct-trade coffee, in which roasters pay a premium above fair-trade requirements, is being sold under private labels by Target and Fresh Market. Supplier Coffee Bean International is working with independent farmers in Peru to provide the coffee, at 40 cents to $1 a pound more than fair-trade pricing.
