Dryden facility takes flight to new heights

The Dryden Aircraft Operations Facility near Edwards Air Force Base in California is home to some of the most imaginative and advanced aircraft on the planet. Some are experimental and others perform missions for NASA, the U.S. Air Force and the Central Intelligence Agency, such as the ER-2, which can fly above 98% of the atmosphere so that "often we can simulate a near space environment from it," said Randal Albertson, deputy director of NASA’s Airborne Science Program.
