Neb. could tax soda to support school wellness programs

Lawmakers in Nebraska are considering adopting a tax on soda, which would be used to fund the Nebraska Healthy Kids Fund -- tasked with supporting school-based wellness programs. Officials say the fund would seek to expand best practices already established at schools for emphasizing a healthy weight and physical activity, as well as help schools track such data.
