Net-zero Phipps Conservatory in Pa. aims for record 3 certifications

The net-zero Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in Pittsburgh aims not only to become the greenest building in the world but also to attain certification from three of the world's green rating systems -- the Living Building Challenge, LEED Platinum and the Sustainable Sites Initiative. The building incorporates a reclaimed wood barn, a "green" wall that improves air quality inside an atrium, geothermal wells for heating and cooling, waterless urinals and a "bird-friendly wind turbine."
