Combo laser treatment does well for basal cell carcinoma

Pulsed dye laser and Nd:YAG laser therapy cleared basal cell carcinoma in a small study with minimal side effects, researchers report in the journal Lasers in Surgery and Medicine. The laser combination targets and destroys microvasculature interwoven throughout the tumor bed with minimal damage to surrounding tissue. Basal cell size less than 1.5 centimeters was associated with the best outcomes, lead researcher and dermatologist Mathew Avram said.
