Jumeirah CEO: New tax won't hurt Dubai travel

A newly instituted tourist tax in Dubai should not damage the travel industry there, says Gerald Lawless, chief executive of luxury hotel company Jumeirah Group. "It is something the market can sustain in Dubai," Lawless said, noting the tax exists in other markets. "[T]his money, after all, is going to be channeled totally into the promotion of Dubai which has to be to our benefit in the long term as well. There certainly will not be any negative implications."
