Maritime academy students hit the water for job-skills training

Some students from the Maine Maritime Academy recently spent a day learning how to handle emergencies on the water as part of the fishing vessel drill conductor certificate program. Students learned how to escape from a submerged environment, how to turn clothes into flotation devices and other skills they may need to know for jobs on the water. "A lot of this information will carry over into their professional life," instructor John McMillan said.
