N.Y. delays implementing the common core

Teachers in New York state will have five years to fully implement Common Core State Standards and, for the next two years, teachers' evaluations will not be tied to performance on exams aligned with the standards, the state's Board of Regents said Monday. Officials decided to delay full implementation following criticism from teachers and parents about the implementation.
