Social worker helps caregivers with complicated grief

Clinical social worker Kathie Supiano of the bereavement counseling program Caring Connections is using a $99,000 grant from the Alzheimer's Association to help people with complicated grief, including those who provided long-term care to dementia patients. She said her research into complicated grief found it can disrupt a person's ability to function at work or within their family, and a 16-week program can help them get back to a healthy grief process.
