Australian Commission Rejects Citrus Tariffs

Australia's Productivity Commission has turned down proposed tariffs that would protect the country's citrus industry from cheap Brazilian imports. The commission says increasing trade barriers would not be an effective policy. Instead, the commission has recommended the federal government negotiate lower overseas barriers at an upcoming World Trade Organization meeting.
