Calgary Teachers May Join Province-Wide Strike In Alberta

Calgary's 6,000-plus teachers were to vote today to decide whether to join the nearly 15,000 striking Alberta teachers. Learning Minister Lyle Oberg has said the government may intervene and declare a public emergency, which would send the strikers back to work. The teacher's strike began Feb. 4 to protest a lack of funding and respect; more than 255,000 students have been affected.
