Massachusetts pharmacies to stop charging consumers prescription tax

Major pharmacies throughout Massachusetts announced this week that they will stop passing on the costs of a state-imposed prescription tax to consumers and will foot the bill themselves. Independent pharmacies are worried the move will force them out of business if they can't afford to pay the tax themselves to remain competitive.
