Ex-gay programs attract the faithful

Although almost every mental health professional believes it is impossible to change one's sexual orientation, many devout gays and lesbians whose faith precludes them from being homosexual nevertheless try to reorient themselves by enrolling in secular or spiritual counseling programs. The recent case of the Rev. Ted Haggard, the evangelical minister involved in a gay-sex scandal who has pronounced himself "completely heterosexual" after three weeks of counseling, has focused new attention on the movement to help others become ex-gay.
