Expansion at D.C. school shoots for platinum LEED status

Planners working on a project to expand and renovate the historic Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., were able to convince the private school's board of trustees and the community to use ambitious green measures for the project. The work paid off with the project becoming a contender for LEED platinum certification, the highest level offered by the U.S. Green Building Council.
