Texans rally to protest plans for coal-fired power plants

About 1,000 people rallied at the state Capitol in Austin, Texas, in protest of lawmakers' plans to approve building as many as 18 new coal-fired power plants. Energy company TXU Corp., which wants to build 11 of the plants, says the facilities would reduce emissions by replacing older, less efficient plants, but critics said the new plants will nevertheless pour tons of pollutants into the air each year.
