Safety director hired to oversee WTC projects

A new safety director has been recruited to oversee the construction of skyscrapers, a Sept. 11 memorial and a new transit hub station at the World Trade Center site in Manhattan. More than two dozen safety managers are already working on different projects on the site, but following a string of accidents at other city construction sites, authorities wanted to install one director to coordinate work at all projects.
