Activision posts quarterly net loss despite robust sales

Thanks to popular game titles such as "Guitar Hero," "Call of Duty" and "World of Warcraft," Activision reported fourth-quarter revenue of $1.6 billion and full-year sales of $3 billion. But the company posted a $72 million net loss in the quarter ended Dec. 31, largely because of write-offs associated with its July merger with Vivendi Games.
