Children with ADHD have brain irregularities linked to motivation

A study that took brain scans of children showed those with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder had a smaller ventral striatum, the area that regulates motivation for starting and completing tasks. The study builds on research linking the same area in the brain with hyperactivity and impulsiveness in animals.
