Study clarifies pregnancy risk from diabetes, excess weight

A study of more than 23,300 women around the world found expectant mothers who were overweight or obese were at greater risk for conditions such as pre-eclampsia, as well as complications from having a larger baby. The research concluded the weight-related risks were separate from those caused by pregnancy-related diabetes, which may lead to similar dangers.
