Age-related brain volume decline seen in type 1 diabetes

Patients with type 1 diabetes had lower gray matter volume and T2 relaxation time in multiple brain regions when they reached adolescence or early adulthood, compared with their healthier counterparts, a study found. However, the mechanism behind the age-related brain volume and tissue health decline in youths with type 1 diabetes is still unclear, researchers reported in Diabetes Care.
