Drought tolerance isn't always enough when picking desert trees

Trees that don't require a lot of water can still be problematic in desert regions like Arizona, experts say. African sumac is hardy and fast-growing, but invasive and difficult for landscapers, while eucalyptus trees have weak limbs that can cause significant damage to homes, the experts say. They recommend Arizona ash and evergreen pistache, among others.
