Laboratory that protects animal and public health needs overhaul

The Nebraska Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, which handles veterinary education, livestock necropsies and medical testing for zoo animals and domestic pets, and also assists researchers and pharmaceutical companies, is badly in need of updates, and officials are petitioning state legislators for funds to build a new facility. It is probable that some state funding will be provided, but state officials will likely urge the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to secure through privation donations a significant portion of the $50 million required for construction.
