For 100 years, the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association and its predecessors have played an important role as the voice of U.S. short line and regional railroads, writes Jeff Stagl. Today, the organization continues to evolve with the changing environment of the rail industry. "There's no standing still. We need transparent transportation networks that are responsive and reliable and competitive, and that demands change," said ASLRRA President Richard Timmons. ""We need to be a 'springboard' instead of a 'platform' for short lines because we, as an industry, need to spring forward."
