Cellulosic ethanol plant files for bankruptcy protection

The demonstration-scale Western Biomass Energy cellulosic plant in Upton, Wyo., has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The plant was the first U.S. cellulosic ethanol facility to enter service and the first to receive cellulosic-ethanol renewable identification numbers, for a shipment of about 20,000 gallons to Brazil.
