Experimental device might help doctors detect pressure ulcers

A Pittsburgh-area doctor has launched a crowdfunding campaign to further develop a device to help doctors detect early-stage pressure ulcers. Dr. Sanna Gaspard initially developed the device to detect pressure ulcers in people with dark skin, but she says it offers a more quantitative assessment of tissue health than conventional techniques in skin of any color.
