Federal grant to boost passenger rail across Iowa

More than $100 million in state and federal funding is being used to add passenger rail service in Iowa, including $20 million in state funds and a federal grant of $87 million. The project, between Iowa City and the Quad Cities on the Iowa Interstate Railroad’s line will improve crossing signals, upgrade railroad bridges and add track crossovers.
