Report identifies 5 key HIT-related safety issues

An ECRI Institute report has identified the five potential safety issues tied to health IT, which include insufficient data transfer between HIT systems and incorrect data input in patient records. The report notes that the environment in which the system operates needs to be part of the consideration of any HIT effort, which includes planning, implementation and ongoing use and assessment.
