Southwest and AirTran raise some fees

Southwest Airlines and AirTran Airways are upping ancillary fees. Southwest's chief executive says the increases are a move to avoid fare increases. AirTran increased its fees by $5 for a first checked bag and by $10 for a second checked bag, and Southwest has begun selling early boarding for $40.
