The demand for a product that melts snow from roofs is soaring as winter weather brings more attention to roof maintenance, according to this article. Roofmelt, made from calcium chloride tablets, has drawn customers from afar to Rylee's Ace Hardware in Grand Rapids, Mich., for example, said Terry Sytsma from the store. Van Kassouni, inventor of Roofmelt, stumbled upon the idea after throwing calcium chloride tablets onto his roof; now he has 45 to 65 employees shipping his product to 5,000 retail outlets.
