Inpatient rehab readmission rates at 11.8%, study says

Thirty-day readmission rates for inpatient rehabilitation facilities averaged 11.8% but varied by diagnosis, patient population and state, researchers reported in the Journal of the American Medical Association. The retrospective study used Medicare data and found the highest readmission rates were among men, non-Hispanic blacks, dual eligibles and patients with tier 1 comorbidities.
