SEC may soon approve actively managed ETFs

The Securities and Exchange Commission is said to be close to a recommendation to allow actively managed ETFs. The agency's decision would come as ETFs have skyrocketed in popularity -- assets in U.S. ETFs grew 38% in 2006 to $417 billion -- and demand for actively managed version of the products grows. "It appears that the holy grail is almost upon us," one observer said.
