Brazilian credit markets shrug off subprime turmoil

While much of the world is reeling from the subprime meltdown, Brazil's credit markets are going about business as usual, demonstrating the ability of an emerging market to "decouple." "Of course conditions are somewhat more difficult, spreads are up and the pace of business is slower but, overall, credit markets are calm," said Antonio Quintella, head of Credit Suisse's Brazilian operation.
