FTC sues Cephalon over "pay-for-delay settlements"

The Federal Trade Commission has filed a lawsuit against Cephalon, claiming that the company engaged in unlawful transactions with several generic drug makers, including Barr Pharmaceuticals and Teva Pharmaceuticals USA, to delay the launch of their versions of narcolepsy drug Provigil until 2012. Cephalon's chief executive said its settlements with the generics makers "met the letter and spirit of the law in every way."
