Opinion: Reforms that minimize teachers' role bound to fail

Too many educational reform measures assume that teachers are sullen and ineffectual when most intend to act only in their students' best interests, say Seattle educators Michael Hureaux and Robert Femiano. This incorrect mindset has more districts nationwide implementing standard curriculums that fail to account for teacher expertise and the individual needs of students, and generally treat schools like factories.
