China's economic growth accelerates gently

Economists surveyed by Bloomberg News pointed out that China's growth rate picked up from 6.3% in the first quarter to 6.6% in the second quarter, indicating that the country's economic stimulus might be working. Lu Ting, a Merrill Lynch economist in Hong Kong, said China could very well become "the first major economy to recover from the current global meltdown."
