NTSB identifies Canada geese in US Airways incident

The National Transportation Safety Board confirmed on Thursday that the birds struck by US Airways Flight 1549 were Canada geese, though officials are still uncertain if the birds were migrating or had taken up residence near New York LaGuardia. Migrating geese typically weigh 6 to 11 pounds, but resident birds are fatter and "can exceed published records."
